Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15 through October 15. If only for one month, immerse yourself in all things Hispanic / Latino!
Visit El Museo del Barrio or the Hispanic Society. Catch The Mambo Kings on Broadway or watch flamenco at El Repetorio Espanol. Tomate un cafe con leche, at lunch come un cubano, y para la cena pernil con arroz con gandules. And during your spare time or on the ride on the subway, read a Hispanic author.
Some recommendations include, THE TURKISH LOVER by Esmeralda Santiago; LET IT RAIN COFFEE by Angie Cruz; and ADIOS MUCHACHOS by Daniel Chavarria. And if you want to spice up your love life Latina-style, read THE LATINA KAMA SUTRA by Dr. Charley Ferrer.
Feliz Mes Hispano!
OFFICIAL NOTICE: Hispanic Heritage Month, recognized from September 15 through October 15, celebrates Independence Day for Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua (on September 15) and Mexico (on September 16) as well as El Dia de la Raza, or ”the Day of the Race,” on October 12.
