EXCERPT: HISPANICUS: THE APOSTATE LIFE OF ANTONIO PINTERO BY EDDIE CISNEROS

The Latina Book Club welcomes back author Edward Cisneros aka Eddie C.  He has revamped and revised his old book, HIS-PANIC, to bring us the new improved version – HISPANICUS: THE APOSTATE LIFE OF ANTONIO PINTERO.  It’s the dirty, gritty story of a 15-year old drug dealer who rules the streets of New York.  Before we share an excerpt from his book, we asked Eddie C about how New York City inspires much of his writing.--mcf Q:  How does New York City and its dark underbelly inspire you? EDDIE C:   I think for visualization purposes, you can easily move away from the neon lights of Times Square and perhaps move a little further uptown, soak in a totally different atmosphere. Maybe journey out to the Bronx, Brooklyn, certain parts of Queens. It’s not to say that New York in general is this entire rotten apple, but there are parts that can give you that grime and realness, in order to authenticate what you write about. EXCERPT: HIS-PANIC: EXIT TO BOOGIE DOWN BY EDDIE CISNEROS

The Latina Book Club congratulates author Eddie Cisneros   on the second book is his HIS-PANIC trilogy.   We are happy to share an excerpt with our readers. More so, was the fact that I now had a great deal of trust issues swirling. I remember talking with Taz while hanging out at Jerome Park one night. I was able to open up about a lot of things, about my argument with Duckie and the whole situation with Rosemary and her brother. I explained to him that I really thought m...

The Latina Book Club congratulates Eddie H. Cisneros on realizing his dream of becoming a published author.   We are happy for the chance to chat with him about his writing and his debut novel, HIS-PANIC, our selection for June's Book of the Month. Q:     You are a writer who works as a doorman. Tell us about yourself, your family and when you knew your passion was writing?   EDDIE:   I am employed as a doorman. This month, will mark 21 years at the same position in the same building. I currently reside in Queens with my wife, two kids and my super, super pal, our dog. I've been writing for quite some time. I've had a passion for writing going back to when I was really young. It was just something I enjoyed doing, the entire thought process and the creativity bundled with a vivid imagination I guess. Growing up, I really enjoyed watching movies and would even try and write scripts for movies that my friends and I had in our ...
